Get Room to Breathe

At Get Room to Breathe™, we understand that moving, downsizing or simply creating more space is about more than just the physical task. Whether we are helping you downsize from your family home, move somewhere new, or simply organise a room or tackle an overflowing cupboard, we recognise that the process can be emotional, challenging and at times overwhelming.

Our approach is built around compassion, discretion, respect and integrity. We take the time to listen, understand what you want to achieve and work in a way that feels right for you. We bring practical expertise and efficiency to the process, helping make things feel more manageable whilst at the same time working at your own pace.

Most importantly, you remain in control. We involve you as much or as little as you want, helping you make decisions without pressure or judgement. We respect the personal significance that possessions and spaces can hold, while taking away as much of the practical and emotional strain as possible. This could include sorting possessions after the loss of a loved one. At such a difficult time, we can provide a calm, compassionate and practical presence, helping you work through the process at your own pace.

We treat your home, your belongings and your circumstances with complete discretion and care. Whether you are making a major life change, supporting a loved one through a transition, or simply want to get a little more room to breathe, we are here to make the process calmer, clearer and more manageable, with a personal service you can trust.

“I had new wardrobes installed and used this as an opportunity to reorganise my clothes and shoes. Debbie and Vivien helped me hugely from start to finish. They took everything out of my old wardrobes, then hung and categorised everything, meaning I could see it all in one place, and together we worked through what to keep, what to sell and what to donate. The icing on the cake was having them take away anything I wasn’t keeping, and either selling it for me or donating it to my chosen charity. I couldn’t recommend Get Room to Breathe ™ highly enough.”

Downsizing

There comes a time when the home that once suited you may no longer suit the life you want to lead.

Perhaps the children have flown the nest. Perhaps the garden, the spare bedrooms and the endless upkeep have become more responsibility than pleasure. Or perhaps you simply feel ready for something different.

Whatever brings you to this point, downsizing is a deeply personal decision. It involves more than bricks and mortar. It means letting go of familiar surroundings, deciding what to take forward and imagining what the next chapter could look like.

At Get Room to Breathe™, we believe this transition deserves time, understanding and a truly personal approach.

We help you look beyond the practicalities of moving to discover the possibilities ahead: a home that works for you, more freedom to enjoy your time, and the confidence that every decision has been carefully considered.

Because moving to a smaller home needn't mean narrowing your horizons, it can mean opening the door to getting room to breathe.

Get Room to Breathe™ Methodology

Step 1 - Assessing Your Needs

Every project begins with an ‘in-home’ consultation which is an opportunity for us to understand:

  • Your goals and priorities
  • Your timescale
  • The size and complexity of the project
  • Any emotional, family or practical considerations
  • What support you would like from us

Following this meeting, we will create a bespoke strategy and action plan tailored to your needs.

There is no pressure and no rush, we are there to help you take the first steps.

Step 2 - Creating Your Downsizing Plan

We break the process into manageable stages.

Together we create a practical plan covering:

  • What needs to happen
  • When it needs to happen
  • Who needs to be involved

Rather than facing a daunting project alone, you have a clear plan and ongoing support.

Step 3 - Deciding What Stays and What Goes

This is often the most emotional and time-consuming part of the process.

We provide calm, supportive guidance while helping you sort possessions into categories:

  • Keep - items that will stay with you.
  • Pass to Family - treasured possessions, furniture, photographs, heirlooms and keepsakes.
  • Sell - items with resale value.
  • Donate - useful items that can benefit local charities.
  • Recycle - responsibly recycling items wherever possible.
  • Dispose - items that have reached the end of their useful life.

Our aim is never to force decisions, we help you to make clear, confident choices.

Step 4 - Unlocking Value From Unwanted Possessions

Many homes contain items that still hold value.

We can help identify belongings that may be appropriate for resale and can manage the selling process on your behalf, should you wish us to do so.

This allows clients to:

  • Reduce the volume of possessions
  • Generate additional funds
  • Ensure valuable items are not overlooked

We can help you decide what is worth selling and what is better donated.

Where items are sold, an agreed share of the proceeds is returned directly to you.

Step 5 - Managing Donations, Recycling and Disposal

Once decisions have been made, we coordinate the next steps, including removing agreed charity donations or items no longer required.

We will make multiple journeys to charity shops or recycling centres on your behalf.

Step 6 - Home Assessment & Space Planning

Moving is easier when you know exactly what will fit.

We carry out:

  • Floor plan reviews
  • Furniture measurement checks
  • Room layout planning

Using scaled templates we help determine:

  • Which furniture can move with you
  • Where key items will be positioned
  • What additional storage may be required

This helps prevent unnecessary moving costs and avoids surprises on moving day.

Step 7 - Coordinating the Move

We can coordinate the practical elements of relocation, including:

  • Removal companies
  • Storage providers
  • Trusted specialist partners

Rather than managing multiple suppliers yourself, you have a single point of contact throughout the process.

Step 8 - Settle In

More Than Just Moving Boxes, our support does not end when the removal van leaves.

Many people find that the first few days in a new home can feel disorientating.

That's why we focus on making the new property comfortable, functional and familiar from day one.

We will:

  • Help create a sense of home immediately
  • Help unpack and organise belongings
  • Arrange furniture according to our agreed plan

The result is a home that is ready to live in, rather than weeks of living among boxes.

Moving

A move is more than a change of address. It's a transition between chapters, bringing with it decisions, emotions and the anticipation of something new.

At Get Room to Breathe™, we believe the experience should be every bit as considered as the home you're moving to.

With a thoughtful, individual approach, we help bring clarity to the complexities of moving, taking time to understand what matters to you and ensuring that the details receive the attention they deserve.

No two moves are the same. That's why we believe in a service built around you — your circumstances, your priorities and the life you want to create next.

So you can spend less time worrying about the move itself and more time looking forward to what comes after.

Get Room to Breathe™. Thoughtful support for life's next chapter.

Organising

A beautifully organised home is about more than appearances. It's about how a space makes you feel.

The ease of finding what you need. The pleasure of a room that feels spacious and considered. The quiet satisfaction of knowing that everything has its place.

At Get Room to Breathe™, we believe home organising should be a thoughtful and personal experience, shaped around your lifestyle, your preferences and the things you value most.

Together, we look at how your home works for you today, identifying opportunities to simplify, create order and make better use of the space you have.

From individual rooms and carefully curated wardrobes to kitchens, storage spaces and entire homes, our approach is always respectful, practical and tailored to you.

The aim isn't simply to create a beautifully organised home for the moment, it's to establish a way of living that feels easier, more enjoyable and sustainable over time.

Less time managing your belongings. More time enjoying your home.
